Publix Trippin': 5/26
Publix and Bi-Lo aren’t looking great this week, and there were no inserts in the Sunday paper to clip, so let’s take a week to rest on our laurels, tidy up our coupon binders, and toss out the expirees- shall we? In the spirit of laurel-resting, last night I went to Publix to catch the good deals before they were gone, and I made out pretty well- saving 73% of the total. Some of these things I didn’t even have coupons for- which just broke my heart. But you know what they say, man cannot live on brownies alone…

The fun thing about trips like this, besides stocking the pantry with things my family really likes, is when the items come together as meals for you.
Charcoal+ Lighters+ Pork chops+ Barbecue Sauce+ Potatoes= Most of a cookout!
Pasta+ Pasta sauce+ Garlic bread= 4 “Pasta Nights” for the family!
You’ve got drinks, you’ve got deserts, you’ve even got coffee. What about the veggies, you wonder? Well, I stocked up on canned veggies during last week’s sale- my pantry’s full. What about more meat? Well, I waited it out- and sure enough- boneless, skinless chicken breast went on sale at Bi-Lo this morning for $1.88/lb. Yay! The notion of buying big when it’s on sale, and not at all when you can help it, pays off in the end.
